Norwalk Public Schools would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Kelli Hibbard who passed away on Jan. 12. Hibbard was a valued member of the West Rocks community for two decades, most recently as a social studies teacher.

West Rocks Principal Adam Reynolds called Hibbard “one of the most generous people I ever met.”

“Whether it was the holidays, field trips, or special events, she made sure all students were able to get what they needed,” Reynolds said. “In addition to giving to others, for over twenty years she promoted and taught the importance of literacy to her students. She was a valued member of the West Rocks Community, and she will be deeply missed.”

In addition to teaching, Hibbard’s interests ranged from horseback riding to going to operas at The Metropolitan Opera. She also loved pets and adopted a Belgium Malinois named Dixie three years ago.

Her colleague and fellow West Rocks social studies teacher Anita Chauvin shared:

“Kelli was one of the most thoughtful, intelligent, and insightful people that I have known. She touched the lives of so many students as well as colleagues over the span of 23 years,” said Anita Chauvin, Hibbard’s colleague and fellow social studies teacher at West Rocks. 

“She was both artistic and creative. Kelli was passionate about opera and even performed on stage for our students. She loved being on the water and enjoyed sailing on the Hudson. She was an avid reader and had a passion for history and politics. Kelli enjoyed nature. She was a "Doctor Doolittle" feeding the wildlife at her home. She was always willing to help anyone that needed help. She will be missed by many.”

Escuelas Públicas de Norwalk quisieran extender sus más profundas condolencias a la familia y amigos de Kelli Hibbard, quien falleció el 12 de enero. Hibbard fue un miembro valioso de la comunidad de West Rocks durante dos décadas, más recientemente como maestra de estudios sociales.

Además de la enseñanza, los intereses de Hibbard iban desde montar a caballo hasta ir a las óperas en The Metropolitan Opera. También amaba a las mascotas y adoptó a un malinois belga llamado Dixie hace tres años.
