The new year brings new opportunities, and we’re excited to bring you the opportunity to take part in some exciting events and activities across the district this month.  

Brien McMahon and Norwalk high schools will sponsor the return of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration and The Norwalk Partnership will host its first Freshman Forums at both high schools.

Center for Global Studies Open House

Saturday, Jan. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Center for Global Studies, 300 Highland Ave. in Norwalk

The Center for Global Studies will host an open house for all prospective eighth-grade students who are interested in attending the high school in fall 2023. School administrators, program coordinators and teachers will be available to speak with students and families about the global perspective to learning that CGS has to offer.

Norwalk High School will host an open house for all prospective eighth-grade students who are interested in attending the high school in fall 2023. School administrators, program coordinators and teachers will be available to speak with students and families.

Let Freedom Reign! A Celebration of the Life of Martin Luther King Jr.

Monday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. (Community Breakfast at 8 a.m.)

Calvary Baptist Church, Church Hall, 21 Concord St. in Norwalk

The district’s annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. returns this year. Brien McMahon High School and Norwalk High School are sponsoring the event that will feature NPS Social Worker Kevin Downing as the keynote speaker. NPS students will also perform and showcase their artwork.

The NPS Students and Staff program starts at 10 a.m. A community breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. Tickets for breakfast are $15 and can be purchased by calling 203-838-3176.

Town Hall: The Impact of Mentoring

To celebrate National Mentor Month, Norwalk Public Schools is partnering with the Human Services Council to present a panel of mentors and mentees who will speak about the positive impact of mentoring. The event is FREE and open to the public.
