NPS appoints new Tracey leadership

Norwalk Public Schools is proud to announce the appointments of Lindsay Esposito and Cherie Duque as Principal and Assistant Principal of Tracey Magnet School as well as Danielle Brown as the district’s new Education Administrator for School Support and Improvement for Humanities.

Lindsay Esposito – Principal of Tracey Magnet School

Esposito most recently served as the interim principal for Tracey Magent School.

She joined the Norwalk Public Schools in August 2016 as a Team Leader/Teacher in Charge at Naramake Elementary School. She transferred to the Curriculum and Instruction Department for the district in June 2019 and served as a Teacher-in-Residence for Humanities.

The next summer, Esposito found a home at Tracey Magnet School. She started as a Literacy Instruction Coach in June 2020, working with staff and administration to create and implement a plan to increase student achievement in ELA. 

In August 2021, Esposito was named the Curriculum and Instruction Site Director for Tracey. In her role, she provided professional development in new instructional programs in math and literacy, facilitated weekly Instructional Leadership Team meetings, created a master schedule for the building, and collaborated with curriculum supervisors at Central Office to improve the implementation of Tier 1 instruction and interventions.

In August 2022, Esposito was named the Interim Principal for Tracey Magnet School and worked to develop the 2022-2023 School Improvement Plan, establish the annual goals, create a master schedule for the building, and provide professional development for the Instruction Leadership Team.

Esposito received her Bachelor of Science in Education and English from the University of Connecticut in 2003 and completed her Master of Arts in Education from the University of Connecticut in 2004.

Cherie Duque – Asst. Principal of Tracey Magnet School

Duque had been serving as the interim assistant principal for Tracey since July 2022.

She joined Norwalk Public Schools in September 2003. She previously served as a third grade teacher at PS 75 in the Bronx, New York. She started her teaching career at Trinity Elementary School in New Rochelle.

Duque started in Norwalk at Jefferson Elementary School as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher. She spent five years at the elementary school. She then moved to Naramake Elementary in 2010, serving as a first grade and third grade teacher for nine years.

In June 2019, Duque became a Literacy Coach at Naramake Elementary, supporting building and district initiatives in Literacy Curriculum and Instruction for three years. She also assisted the school’s Instructional Leadership Team in setting annual goals related to literacy instruction.

Her work at Naramake Elementary School also extended after regular school hours, serving as the extended school day coordinator, coordinating an after-school math intervention programs for students in grades 2-4. She also served on the school’s climate committee (2018-2019) and safety committee (2017–2018) as the Grade 3 representative.

Duque received the Excellence in Education Award from the Norwalk Education Foundation in 2018. That same year, she was recognized by the Norwalk Board of Education for her leadership in establishing Naramake Elementary School as a Visionary School at the 2018 Model Schools Conference.

In 2019, Duque gave the presentation “Embracing Relations, Rigor and Relevance” at the CT Council for Education Reform Conference, “Elevating Instruction Practice for Student Success.”

Duque received her Bachelor of Arts in Teaching from Iona College in 2001. She majored in Elementary Education and minored in History. In 2008, she completed her Master of Arts in Education, Elementary Education, at Sacred Heart University.

She returned to Sacred Heart University to complete the Connecticut Literacy Specialist Program and the Education Leadership, Intermediate Administrator Program in 2021.

Danielle Brown – Education Administrator for School Support and Improvement for Humanities

Brown most recently served as the Assistant Education Administrator for Humanities for the district.

She joined Norwalk Public Schools in August 2008. She started her education career at Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut in August 2003. She taught English in all four grade levels. She also served as a Lead Teacher for Harding at Night, a night school program that served as an alternative for students struggling to complete traditional school.

When she came to Norwalk in 2008, Brown joined the English department at Brien McMahon High School and served as a department chair, overseeing a department of 17 teachers. She was the creator and curriculum designer of the AP Language, and Composition and Transitional English for ELL students.

Outside of school, she coached the Brien McMahon High School field hockey and softball teams between 2008 and 2019. In 2019, she was named FCIAC Field Hockey Coach of the Year and Class L Field Hockey Coach of the Year. She now is an assistant field hockey coach for Fairfield University.

In July 2021, Brown became the Assistant Education Administrator for Humanities for Norwalk Public Schools. Her work included designing monthly Curriculum Writing sessions with teachers and coaches around the development and revision of curricula for ELA and social studies K-12, and supporting the Education Administrators for School Improvement in their work to develop Cycles of Support in the buildings.

Brown also helped to organize the 2022 Reach Across America Day and prepared students for their conversation with U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona by producing an informative presentation about the secretary and his role.

Brown graduated from Fairfield University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in English. She received her Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Boise State University in 2014.
